Getting through life as a practicing visual artist has many complicated steps to navigate. I only say this because I have already gone through most of mine, so I know what I’m saying. Along the way, one of the many things I’ve learned is that there are various ways to see and interpret a thing to paint. I challenge myself to tell a story in my paintings. It’s the often-overlooked ordinary things, places, and people that I chose to paint. I choreograph a reason and a path to tell the story using color, brushstrokes, and marks with oil paint and other mediums. I encourage you to look closer! Working en plein air or in my studio, the goals are the same: to keep honing my skills, present beauty worthy of a second look, and honor God by using my talent. I most want the viewer to find comfort, peace, happiness, or just maybe a new way to see something.
